Founder's Story
HI, I AM SHRUTI OR SHROOMS 😉
I hail from Ranchi, Jharkhand, a small town in eastern India.
The Covid period led to the closure of my food business, leaving me unemployed. Seizing the opportunity, I decided to relocate to the enchanting tropical desert of Goa.
It was here that I discovered my artistic identity and began to be recognized as Shrooms.
MY PHILOSOPHY
Always strive for uniqueness.
I find ordinariness mundane. Hence everything I create has to be eccentric. I am convinced that deep within, we all possess artistic and creative abilities; we simply need to harness our energies for magic to unfold.
My life is like a grand music festival with numerous smaller events. I love it immensely and strive to continue this path for as long as the cosmos allows.
HOW THE DAPO ENTERED MY LIFE
My journey into psychedelia has been enriched through flow arts, shifting from poi to the captivating Dapo star.
While with my friend Ishita one night on my terrace, I interrupted her Dapo spin, sparking an intense energy exchange reflected in its glow.
This moment led me to embrace the magic of the Dapo flow, becoming inseparable from it at parties.
STARTING DAPO ACADEMY
After a year of flowing at every party that I attended and losing many Dapos from existing brands at parties, I decided to create my own. With a fashion design degree and my mom’s boutique, the process was smooth.
Our big success was in 2022 with the GLOWstar. Yes! We successfully launched the first LED Dapo. This concept was a dream for many, but we made it a reality.
In 2024, we introduced the fire version of the Dapo as I was eager to do performances and placing it in the ranks of other fire flow props. Dapos truly deserved this upgrade.
CONDUCTING WORKSHOPS
A person once shared with me that the most rewarding career one can pursue is teaching, and I couldn’t agree more.
We had the most joyous moments teaching this flow to children at summer camps in my hometown of Ranchi and also in Israel. To this day, we have instructed more than 1000 children and adults in the dapo flow art.
HOW THE WINGS FLEW TO ME ?
I discovered a pair of intricately crafted black wings resembling original eagle wings at my friend Andrew’s tattoo shop.
I would wear them and glide around parties in Goa until I lost them at the Hilltop festival during a chaotic moment. It was then that I made a decision to create 10 different types of wings. Thus, the collection of wings became a reality!
The wings started being adored by children, girls, and even some confident and lovely men, hence motivating me to make more.
HEY, I DO BODY ART AND TATTOOS TOO !
You might be wondering, “What does she do exactly?” Well, that’s the question even I ponder at times. I have always been drawn to various forms of art.
In Goa, I discovered the mesmerizing world of neon and glitter Bodyart, which I found incredibly captivating at parties and flea markets. I delved into mastering this art and became one of the very first artists in this discipline in the country. Now, I am transitioning into creating permanent tattoos.
Body art and tattoos serve as a means of self-expression on the canvas of the body. The connections I have forged with people through my art are countless, and I wouldn’t trade those moments for anything else.

THE SHROOMS COLLECTIVE
While traveling across India, Europe & Thailand I was setting up my shop at festivals and flea markets, teaming up with friends whose products resonated with mine.
The concept of bringing everything together under one roof had been brewing in my mind for a while and was finally put into action in 2024 as Kalash, our website designer met me in one of my stalls and offered his services. Further my two soul sisters Laxita & Noya joined in bringing in their creations to the collective.
